Beauty Should Be Good For You
Our Mission is simple — get clean and safe products into the hands of everyone we love. One by one, we are leading a movement to a future where all beauty is clean beauty.
BeautyCounter formulates, advocates, and educates — They create products that truly perform while upholding themselves to unparalleled standards of safety.
It’s really this simple: beauty should be good for you. We shouldn’t have to worry if the ingredients found in our favorite department store or big-box beauty brand products are safe for us… but it’s a reality we have to face.
Did you know the United States only bans 30 ingredients in beauty and personal-care products? There is little testing and regulating in the industry as a whole, and it can surprisingly contribute greatly to our health. It’s how asbestos was recently found in children’s play makeup after it was already released to the public. Asbestos is a dangerous mineral that is linked to deadly cancer! In children’s makeup! Scary, right? In fact, there has not been a federal law passed governing the personal-care industry in the U.S. since 1938. This is NOT okay and BeautyCounter is working to change that.
80% of ingredients in our personal-care products have never been assessed for human safety. Read that again. On top of that, greenwashing is a very real and prevalent thing happening in today's marketing which is incredibly confusing to consumers and builds a false sense of trust. Greenwashing is the practice of making an unsubstantiated or misleading claim about the environmental or health benefits of a product using buzzwords like "green" or "natural." Since the industry doesn’t regulate specific marketing terms, companies are free to use the terms within whatever definition they seem fit. There is no standard or policy for what “green” means. Or what “all natural” means. Or even what “gluten-free” means. But that’s another article in itself.
EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM TOXIC EXPOSURE CAN BE:
Endocrine disorders and/or hormone disruption
BeautyCounter has committed to creating beauty products that are proven to be effective and, more importantly, SAFE. Their strict ingredient selection process ensures safer and cleaner products that work beautifully. To be specific, there are approximately 1,500 questionable or harmful ingredients chemicals on BeautyCounter’s Never List — a list of ingredients they have sworn to NEVER use in their product formulations. If it’s safety isn’t proven, they do not use it. Period.
BeautyCounter is also a certified B Corporation. Meaning they focus on people, planet, and THEN profits. In addition to safety, making sure their ingredients are also sustainable and include raw materials that are sourced responsibly and via fair worker practices is their top priority. You can feel good putting your money towards a worthy cause and mission when investing with this company!
I truly feel if we know better, we can do better. I didn’t know any better before BeautyCounter. I would apply toxic sunscreen on myself and my children. I’d use Johnson and Johnson baby lotion on my newborn babies and it legit makes me cringe now. I wore makeup from good ol’ Walmart. I thought this stuff was regulated and worthy of my trust, but I was wrong.
A little over a year ago I started working on a healthier me — working out, eating healthy most of the time. I was so concerned about what I was putting into my body, but not ON my body! Our skin is our largest and most absorbent organ in/on our body. Whatever we apply topically is absorbed into our bloodstream within MINUTES. So it’s important to be selective about what we use.
WITH BEAUTYCOUNTER YOU CAN EXPECT:
My family has made the clean swap with our skincare products. I have noticed changes with my husband's acne. My boys always had those little bumpies on the back of their arms that are now nonexistent. My skin looks younger and is glowing. I’m all for clean products, but clean products WITH results? Sign me up.
